Job Description

For GE Vernova Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. In that context and for Germany, Grid Solutions is partnering with TenneT and 50 Hertz, which plans to invest more than $30B by 2030 in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring Offshore Wind energy into Germany and the Netherlands.
In this context, Grid Solutions is looking for an Equipment Classification Manager who will oversee and coordinate all equipment classification and item designations as part of a portfolio of several mega HVDC projects in Germany (contracts value > $1B).
The Equipment Classification Manager will coordinate
• GE Vernova Engineering departments
• GE Vernova supplying units
• Main contractors
• Customer counterpart
and be directly responsible of large strategic work packages, including the delivery of the HVDC off- and onshore. The Equipment Classification Manager will report to the GE Vernova Grid Solutions GSI Central Europa Engineering Leader and Information Manager of HVDC 2GW German Portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of Item Designations standards (e.g. RDS-PP)

  • Responsible for collection processing and storage of item designations in compliance with the company standards

  • Ensuring and handling equipment / item register in a database and / or Excel

  • Collaborating with Engineering teams to align on data practices with project requirements

  • Responsible for handling asset register tools

  • Manage entire data lifecycle from collection to disposal and archival

  • Responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation of item designation processing activities

  • Proficient in Excel and other database management tools

  • Experience in handling complex equipment classification / item designations for Engineering projects

  • Coordinate with Engineering and operations functions for the smooth functioning and implementation of Asset register and item designation

  • Coordinate requirements, deliverables, and exchange processes with customer and suppliers

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires experience in the handling of item designation creation and management of equipment systems and equipment structures of various engineering disciplines (e.g. Primary HV systems, LV systems, Electrical distribution systems, Automation systems)

  • Storytelling and presentation of item designation process and solution to key contacts of customer and suppliers.

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma) and at least 2 years (full time job) of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Language

    • English (mandatory)

    • German (nice to have - major contacts of customer are speaking German).
