Notice of Vacancy:

Effective Date: 2026-2027 School Year

POSITION: Coordinator of Social Studies Fair Competitions

Upshur County Schools

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Curriculum

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 School Year, ongoing

SALARY: $500.00 Stipend

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Curriculum Director pursuant

WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and UCBOE Policy 5010

JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator will conduct all activities noted in the Responsibilities and Performances section of the job description. The Coordinator is preferred to be a teacher or Administrator in Upshur County with a certification in Social Studies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coordinator will:

  1. Arrange for Judges, send postcards, assemble judges' packets.
  2. Arrange food for judges.
  3. Solicit donations for food for students.
  4. Requisition of tables and mats and arrange for delivery and pickup.
  5. Arrange for supervision of students during judging.
  6. Arrange for custodian and sound system.
  7. Assemble for box.
  8. Arrange emcee, videotaping of county fair.
  9. Invite Superintendent and Board Members to give out awards.
  10. Attend all meetings.
  11. Adhere to all deadlines.
  12. Assist with regional and state fairs

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual needs to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2;Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code

§18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
