About the Role

Our Bridge and Civil Structures team is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Drafter to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the design and documentation of a diverse range of infrastructure assets, including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, tunnels, gantries, and other civil structures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, coordination, and quality assurance of engineering drawings and BIM models while supporting the efficient delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. The role will also involve mentoring drafters, maintaining drafting standards, and ensuring project documentation complies with client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate high-quality engineering drawings for bridge and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for structural and civil infrastructure works.
  • Produce concept, preliminary, detailed design, and construction documentation packages.
  • Coordinate drafting activities and manage deliverables to meet project schedules and milestones.
  • Review drawings and models to ensure compliance with project requirements, drafting standards, and quality procedures.
  • Support engineers and project managers through preparation of engineering sketches, layouts, and design visualisations.
  • Maintain drawing registers, document control systems, and project records in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Manage drawing revisions, submissions, and transmittals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of drafting standards, templates, and quality assurance processes.
  • Coordinate project models and drawing production within BIM environments where applicable.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior drafters and designers.
  • Assist in project setup, BIM coordination, and model management activities.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Applicants should possess the following attributes and experience:

Essential

  • Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Drafting, Design Technology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in drafting and modelling for infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the drafting and detailing of:
  • Extensive experience using AutoCAD for engineering documentation.
  • Strong capability in both:
  • Hands-on drafting experience with the ability to independently prepare and coordinate drawing packages.
  • Strong understanding of document control processes, project filing systems, drawing registers, and revision management.
  • Experience managing drawing quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience working on offshore delivery projects supporting international design teams.
  • Experience delivering Australian infrastructure projects, not essential.
  • Experience coordinating drafting teams and managing drawing production for major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining drafting standards and quality systems.
  • Experience with BIM workflows and digital engineering environments.
  • Experience in:
  • Experience setting up BIM projects, model structures, collaboration environments, and project templates.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary coordination involving structural, civil, geotechnical, and rail infrastructure projects.
