This permanent full time position will be based out of Brisbane’s CBD and your first assignment will be to support a major greenfield rail project in South East QueenslandThis next stage of work involves delivering new dual-track rail, tunnels, stations and stabling infrastructure, a largescale expansion that will help shape the region’s long-term transport network.

About the role
As Principal Engineer – Mechanical (TVS), you’ll lead the delivery of tunnel ventilation and life safety system design across the project, ensuring systems are safe, compliant and fit for purpose. You’ll work closely with design, engineering and delivery teams to plan and coordinate TVS infrastructure, supporting both early-stage design and ongoing delivery
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll provide technical direction, support design development and drive quality outcomes across complex tunnel and rail systems, helping set the foundations for successful project delivery from day one.
Key responsibilities
Lead tunnel ventilation system (TVS) design across the project.
Develop and review mechanical design documentation, calculations and specifications.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design outcomes.
Ensure compliance with safety, fire and ventilation standards and project requirements.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers.
What we offer
About you
Experience in a Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineering role.
Strong background in tunnel ventilation, HVAC or life safety systems.
Experience on complex infrastructure projects (rail, tunnels, or similar).
Strong knowledge of mechanical design standards and safety requirements.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
