The role of the Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) Designer is to layout and design Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), producing quality engineering drawings, data, and documentation in accordance with Hatch standards and workflows.

Key Responsibilities
• Ownership of assigned PFD and P&ID development.
• Assist the P&ID Coordinator with staff development, coordination, training, tool configuration, and drawing symbols.
• Understand process data and design intent to develop P&IDs.
• Design PFDs and P&IDs to project lifecycle requirements.
• Maintain assigned budget, schedule, and report progress.
• Issue documents and update revision logs.
• Assign line classifications, identifications, insulation codes, nozzles, and engineering data.
• Assign asset tagging and engineering data to equipment and instrumentation.
• Manage process stream data related to PFD and P&ID lines.
• Generate engineering lists and consistency reports.
• Ensure data integrity between drawings, asset registers, and data environments.
• Review P&IDs for conformance with project documentation and comments.
• Update drawings in accordance with design requirements.
• Report and correct errors as per Hatch guidelines.
• Provide equipment descriptions and verify tagging standards.
• Assist with maintaining master files and history folders.
• Adhere to global/project workflows and safety culture.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
• Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience minimum 3 years with intelligent P&ID tools and databases; COMOS highly preferred
• Familiarity with ProjectWise, SharePoint, or similar EDMS.
• Understanding of HSEC policies and standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work under supervision.

Preferred
• Multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation, Smart Plant PID and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of valves, piping, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience in EPCM and major project environments.
• Understanding of SQL.
