• Permanent, full-time opportunity (35 hours per week)
• Dubbo location, hybrid working supported
• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super

Our Conservation Programs team is currently seeking to appoint an Environmental Water Management and Conservation Officer to support the planning, delivery and evaluation of environmental water to maintain and enhance rivers, wetlands and biodiversity within the Wambuul/Macquarie and Cudgegong River Catchment.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of environmental watering events, participate in field monitoring and reporting on environmental outcomes, and provide technical support for adaptive environmental water decisions. Working closely with our catchment Environmental Water Advisory Group (EWAG) including government agencies, landholders and other stakeholders, you will help coordinate decision-making and flow event implementation in the catchment, build partnerships, and contribute to achieving the real-world outcomes of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. You'll join a collaborative regional delivery team which is committed to positive environmental outcomes

About You

You are a motivated environmental professional with experience delivering projects and programs within natural resource management, water management, conservation or a related field. You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

You are an effective communicator who can build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and translate complex information into clear, practical advice. Collaborative and outcomes-focused, you enjoy working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with communities, landholders and partner agencies to achieve shared environmental outcomes.

Key knowledge and experience

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in river and wetland planning and management, including the hydrology and ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
• Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Demonstrated history of partnership building, ideally with regional communities and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated skills in field monitoring of environmental variables
• knowledge of water, threatened species and biodiversity conservation legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience with a similar role
• Valid NSW drivers’ licence, capability to work in the field, including use of all-terrain vehicles (training provided).
