REQ14312 Environmental & Sustainability Officer (Open)

The Environmental Officer will be responsible for creating and enforcing of health and hygiene legislation and oversees running environmental issues that range from advocacy, awareness and event organizing to drafting environmental policies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations
• Develops, implements, and periodically reviews environmental plans (internal, external, statutory, organizational, e.g., obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures (SOP))
• Liaise and communicates with governmental authorities
• Prepares, reviews, and updates environmental reports
• Provides technical support for environmental remediation actions
• Analyzes scientific data and do quality-control checks
• Monitors progress of environmental improvement programs
• Inspects facilities and programs to ensure internal & external organizational compliance with environmental regulations standards (MELCO Sustainability Initiatives, BREEAM & Environmental Agency)
• Complies with and ensures compliance of company policies and programs
• Conducts periodic inspections as necessary
• Monitors the effectiveness of the environmental training programs and adjusts the programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Develops and accomplishes routine audits to identify and corrects non-compliance conditions
• Ensures that all required reports are completed and submitted to government agencies as required
• Identifies opportunities for improvements to reduce environmental impacts, wastes and/or costs
• Travels to other locations when needed: Nicosia, Paphos & Ayia Napa when needed

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

• Relevant Environmental certification is advantageous
• Excellent interpersonal/presentation skills are required to deal effectively with all levels of staffs, contractors, suppliers and vendors
• Hands-on and possess good problem-solving skills and attend to details
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good knowledge of products and services
• Continuous progress and self-development on environmental matters and legislations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in a similar role in identically position

Or

• Minimum 3 years of working experience in civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering
  

Education

• Environmental Studies, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering degree is mandatory
• Any accreditation or certification would be considered an advantage
• Knowledge of BREEAM and relevant procedures would be considered an advantage
• Proven ability to join a diverse team of individuals

Skills

• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels are essential
• Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, as well as ability to delegate effectively
• Excellent command of English, Greek and other languages highly regarded
• Attention to detail
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
