Job Responsibilities
· Involvement in the implementation of the Environmental and Sustainability strategy for the project.
· Provide professional Environmental and Sustainability leadership and services.
· Advise and guide all levels within project team including the Delivery Leadership Team, Project Managers, Project Engineers, peers, operatives, office staff and subcontractors.
· Responsible for the management of sustainability and environmental risks and mitigation,
consultation with clients, stakeholders and regulators (as required).
· Ensure that the Project teams are supported to meet their Environmental & Sustainability contractual, compliance and business requirements.
· Manage, support, develop and coach Environmental and Sustainability advisors.
· Responsible for local Environmental and Sustainability audit programme and ensuring continuous improvement.
· Conduct Environmental and Sustainability inspections, visits and joint tours.
· Utilise the findings from Environmental and Sustainability reporting data, assessments, external and internal audits to drive sustainability action plans and inform key business decisions.
· Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated and implemented from incidents and audits.
· Champion a culture of continual improvement through Environmental and Sustainability Objectives and Targets and through appropriate metrics and KPIs
· Build and develop relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders (as required).
· Implementing and developing best practice standards across the project.
· Manage the Environmental and Sustainability resources to meet the requirements of the project.
· Promote Environmental and Sustainability initiatives and innovations.
· Share learnings and contribute to the continuous improvement via communities of practice.
· Provide regular updates to the Delivery Leadership Team against the project's environmental and sustainability deliverables.
Qualifications
· Degree in relevant field.
· Chartered ISEP environmental professional or working towards this qualification.
· Internal environmental auditor qualification.
· Competent ecological surveyor for one protected species.
Experience
· Proven experience in the infrastructure industry in an environmental and/or sustainability role.
· Proven experience of leading a team.
· Cost estimation and commercial awareness.
· MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point to a high standard.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to operate in a range of environments.
· Able to demonstrate the ability to positively influence environment and sustainability within projects.
· Excellent organisational skills.
· Experience in implementing ISO14001.
· Knowledge or experience of DCOs and NSIPs.
