Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

  • Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • During execution of performance requirements, shall take precautions to protect all government property including furniture, walls, baseboards, and other surfaces.
  • Report all accidents to your supervisor immediately.
  • Keep all equipment clean and free from build/up wax and debris.
  • Think and work safely and use wet floor signs at all times.
  • Secure vehicles and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Assigned work will be performed as scheduled.
  • Reposition all items to original position when moved to facilitate cleaning operations when performing all cleaning operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to drive and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience of floor cleaning, 1 year experience using a floor machine, high speed buffing machine and an extraction carpet shampoo machine.
  • Must have knowledge of how to properly strip, wax, and seal commercial tile.
  • Shift work is required (day shift & night shift) must be flexible.
  • All Environmental Specialists will load and unload their own equipment.

Preferred:

  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work with computers.
  • Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions.
  • Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team oriented environment Must be able to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.

Working Conditions:

  • Comply with all applicable safety- and health-related rules, regulations, and procedures, including wearing of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work safely themselves and help their teammates work safely.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying and mitigating potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Help the organization maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Physical effort involving average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
  • Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.
