Where You Will Work
In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.
Under close supervision, assists in providing technical support and guidance for environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
What You Bring To Freeport
Associate's Degree in Environmental Science or closely related area (can substitute an additional five (5) years of experience in mining or mineral processing operations for the degree requirement) and
Seven (7) years' experience in environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting as an Environmental Technician , Specialist or in a closely related role
Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)
OR
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience; OR
Master’s degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred such as HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience; OR
Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred including HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.
Preferred
Knowledge in Water Quality including APP, SWPPP, SPCC. Project Management experience. Grade 2 Domestic Water Operator Certified in both Distribution and Treatment. Experience with working with Operations and Maintenance personnel in Industrial setting. Proficient in Enablon, EQuIS, and Microsoft Office tools.

What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,500-$120,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
