Your Specific Responsibilities:

Valid Driver License is required for this position

This position requires the incumbent to be able to safely work outdoors in inclement weather and to be able to travel in and around Seminole County up to 80% each day in a County issued vehicle

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60K-15, Florida Administrative Code.

This is a professional position which regulates both limited use of public and private water systems, public swimming pools/spas, mobile home parks, food, group care and indoor quality using appropriate Florida statutes, Florida Administrative Codes and established policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for the State Underground Petroleum Environmental Response Act (SUPERACT) sampling and DEP water complaint investigations. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating all aspects of permitting and the inspectional activities relating to all assigned facilities.

Reviews water system construction application forms, annual operating permit forms, well completion reports and water test result forms. Conducts final inspections of new water systems and sanitary surveys of existing systems. Collects, processes and reviews water sample and test results for State Petroleum Environmental Response Act, interagency agreement and other requirements and programs relating to the water program.

Perform duties withing the well construction program to perform well water sampling and monitor well contractor compliance by conducting inspections of well construction of potable and non-potable wells.

Maintain lists pertaining to water systems, SUPERACT sites, and DEP public water complaints. Updates program policy and procedure manuals as required. Coordinates all aspects of the mobile home park program and assigned public swimming pool, food & group care facilities to ensure compliance with statutes and codes. Is the point of contact for IAQ complaints to provide info and referrals as appropriate. Prepares daily activity reports, daily work plans, time sheets, vehicle mileage reports, maintain a daily log book and other reports as required by the supervisor.

Ability to: collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical data; prepare technical reports; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental health programs; understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Florida Statutes; deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; utilize problem-solving techniques; use personal computers

Qualifications:

Minimum –

Do you have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry or in the natural sciences?

This position requires you to lift 50 pounds. Are you physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the positions?

This position requires you to bend, lift and stoop to obtain soil samples to include digging. Are you physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position?

Preferred –

Do you have verifiable experience conducting pool, food safety, bar, and sanitary nuisance inspections?
