Agency Overview

What We Need:

Ohio EPA Environmental Specialist 2

What We Do:

At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.

What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR), working at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

Oh, hey. There you are.

We are looking for a focused, determined, goal-oriented person to help our DERR team in Columbus (psst...it's you!)

As an environmental specialist, you will assist division staff with reviewing, preparing, processing, and recommending actions on permit applications, closure plans, RCRA corrective action documents and events, engineering plans, and other related documents submitted by hazardous waste facilities. You will attend public hearings to answer questions and receive comments, and you'll attend environmental hearings to provide technical assistance to the counsel representing Ohio EPA or to present testimony.

You are going to provide technical assistance to consultants, government officials, industry and citizens on state and federal hazardous waste regulations, treatment and disposal options, and pollution prevention concepts, benefits, opportunities, and resources.

You will perform site searches on the national hazardous waste information management system, RCRAInfo, and assign U.S. EPA ID numbers while maintaining the handler ID, permitting, closure, and post-closure date modules in RCRAInfo as necessary and generate correspondence to handles to verify changes in handler information.

You will demonstrate knowledge of DERR data management systems and related environmental data in Ohio and participate as a team member to develop and implement date quality processes, data quality audit procedures, and data quality reporting for management.

Let’s break it down:

  • Assist division staff with reviewing, preparing, processing and recommending actions on permit applications.

  • Attend public hearings to answer questions and receive comments.

  • Provide site searches on the national hazardous waste information management system, RCRAInfo, and assign U. S. EPA ID numbers.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of DERR data management systems and related environmental data in Ohio.

You. Us. The perfect fit!
