Summary
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Boone Memorial Health. This position plays an important role in supporting patient care by ensuring patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, and public spaces are cleaned and disinfected according to hospital standards. The Environmental Services Technician performs housekeeping duties, linen distribution, inventory management, and equipment inspections while following infection prevention and safety protocols. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff.

The Environmental Services Technician is expected to perform the following essential functions:
- Clean patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, and public restrooms.
- Launder hospital linens as assigned.
- Take daily inventory of linen throughout assigned departments.
- Collect soiled laundry from patient care areas and distribute clean linen and hospital gowns to the appropriate locations.
- Use cleaning chemicals and disinfectants safely and effectively.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, furniture, floors, and carpets.
- Make beds, empty trash receptacles, and restock necessary supplies.
- Inspect equipment daily and report repair or replacement needs.
- Report maintenance concerns to the supervisor or director.
- Follow all infection control and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Attend required in-service training and educational programs.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Bend, twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, push, and pull.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
- Use hands to handle equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, respirators, safety glasses, and other protective equipment as needed.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 15% travel within West Virginia and surrounding areas may be required.
Education and Experience
- Previous hospital housekeeping, environmental services, hotel housekeeping, or janitorial experience. (Preferred)
- Valid West Virginia Driver's License.
