Job Shift Swing

The Environmental Service Tech (EVS Tech) is responsible for cleaning all areas of the Hospital. The EVS Tech will follow required protocols relating to cleanliness, use of chemical cleaning products and safety and equipment use.

This position will be day shift (7am - 3:30pm) with rotating weekends.

Job Responsibilities

1. Environmental Cleaning & Disinfection

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas.
• Follow hospital infection‑prevention protocols and use approved cleaning agents.
• Terminal clean rooms after patient discharge, including isolation rooms.

2. Infection Control

• Adhere to CDC, OSHA, and hospital-specific infection‑control procedures.
• Properly handle contaminated materials and use appropriate PPE.
• Safely dispose of biohazard waste and soiled linens.

3. Floor Care

• Sweep and mop patient and non‑patient areas.

4. Waste & Linen Management

• Collect and transport regular waste, biohazard waste, and recyclable materials.
• Pick up, sort, and deliver clean and soiled linens.
• Maintain cleanliness of waste disposal and linen storage areas.

5. Patient‑Focused Support

• Provide courteous service to patients, visitors, and clinical staff.
• Respond to room cleaning requests in a timely manner.
• Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA guidelines.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols for chemical handling (SDS sheets, proper mixing, PPE).
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, spills, or safety concerns.
• Support emergency cleaning response (bloodborne pathogen cleanup, spills, etc.).

7. Inventory & Equipment Care

• Maintain cleaning carts, tools, and equipment in safe working order.
• Restock supplies such as soap, towels, and toilet tissue.
• Notify supervisors when inventory is low or repairs are needed.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED required.

Prior healthcare housekeeping experience preferred.
