Job Description

ChristianaCare is looking for a dedicated Environmental Services Assistant II – Floor Tech to help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for our patients, caregivers, and visitors. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention and overall patient experience, with a focus on floor care and specialized cleaning processes across the hospital.

Full-Time | Day Shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
Requires working every other weekend and every other holiday

Performs advanced environmental services duties with a focus on floor care to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Supports infection prevention practices and contributes to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain patient, clinical, and non-clinical areas of the hospital

  • Perform floor care duties, including stripping/refinishing floors, carpet shampooing, and upholstery cleaning

  • Disinfect precaution rooms according to infection control protocols

  • Remove trash, soiled linen, bulk waste, and infectious waste to appropriate locations

  • Maintain equipment, carts, and supply areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition

  • Stock supplies such as paper products and soap throughout assigned areas

  • Respond promptly to assigned tasks and communication during shift

  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance concerns

  • Follow all safety, infection control, and departmental policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred

  • At least 1 year of environmental services or housekeeping experience preferred

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and reliability

  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively

  • Customer service-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting

  • Possible exposure to infectious materials; PPE required

  • Must follow all safety requirements, including use of protective equipment

This position has a starting rate of $17.75 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.74 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.74 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
