Job Description

The purpose of this job is to clean all designated WMC facilities using the proper procedures and equipment as assigned by Environmental Service management. All WMC Policies and Procedures and Standards of Performance will be followed at all times.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Cleaning experience preferred or any successful work experience that has shown the candidate has the ability to learn.
  • Experience operating any cleaning tools preferred or the ability to learn to operate tools as needed. Must possess the interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good relationships with co-workers
  • All assigned areas of WMC including offices, departments, corridors, and clinical areas
  • Prolonged standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, walking, and carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds. The job requires manual dexterity and the ability to move the hand easily and skillfully. Must be able to see, balance, stoop, crouch, reach, feel, and communicate.

Key Results

  • Takes care and responsibility for department equipment. Carts, equipment and closets are clean and free of dirty items and trash.
  • Annual average Press Ganey Courtesy percentile ranking at evaluation time: This is a department score. Score 90th or higher = 5; 75-89th = 4; 50-74th = 3; 25-49th = 2; 24th or below = 1.
  • Annual HCAHPS "Cleanliness of hospital environment" department percentile ranking at evaluation time: Score 90th or higher = 5; 75-89th = 4; 50-74th = 3; 25-49th = 2, score 24 or below = 1.
  • Annual employee attendance record (since last evaluation) two or less occurrences of unscheduled absence = 5; three or less = 4; four or less = 3; five or less = 2; six or more = 1.
  • Annual employee tardiness record (since last evaluation) Employee has been late two or less times = 5; four times or less = 4; six times or less = 3; eight times or less = 2; more than 8 times = 1
  • Annual Department Hand Hygiene score at time of Evaluation 97% or higher = 5, 93-977%=4, 89-92% =3, 85-91% = 2, 84% or below = 1
  • Participates and provides constructive input during department meetings
  • Annual score of Precautions and Safety test: Score of 95-100 = 5; score 91-99 = 4; score 83-90= 3; score 75-82 = 2; score 74 or below = 1.
  • Annual score of Chemicals and Cart test: Score of 100 = 5; score 93 = 4; score 86 = 3; score 80 = 2; score 73 or below = 1.
  • Annual score of Policies and Procedures: Score of 100 = 5; score 91 = 4; score 83 = 3; score 75 = 2; score 66 or below = 1.
  • Annual average times for room response and room cleaning: 30-40 minutes= 5; 41-49 minutes = 4; 50-59 minutes = 3; 60-75 minutes =2. 75 minutes or more =1
  • Properly uses all safety measures, devices, and systems provided. Corrects or reports any safety hazards identified. Fills out event notification when appropriate to help prevent future accidents.
  • Follows all break schedules and bed board compliance
  • Completes all Health Stream education assignments by the due date.
  • Displays compassion and respect for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Responds promptly to all requests for assistance in a way that demonstrates care, courtesy, and respect.
  • Serves as an ambassador for WMC and works to improve the image of WMC as we meet the health care needs of the communities we serve.
  • Takes responsibility to guard each patient's privacy and confidentiality. Follows all HIPAA and privacy guidelines.
