
The Opportunity
We are seeking a combined Food & Nutrition and Environmental Services Manager to oversee and lead both the Food & Nutrition Services and Environmental Services (Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance) departments.
This leadership role ensures high-quality services that meet the nutritional, environmental, and safety needs of our residents, aligned with AgeCare's mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Food & Nutrition Services
Manage and oversee all aspects of food and nutrition services, ensuring high-quality, resident-centered meal service.
Conduct and review Resident Nutritional Assessments, including MDS and RAPs where applicable, and implement nutritional care plans.
Participate in Resident Care Conferences and Food Committee meetings to address resident and family feedback.
Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian to support residents' dietary needs.
Manage food service budgets, inventory, purchasing, and ensure cost-effective operations.
Ensure compliance with food safety, public health, and regulatory standards.
Supervise and support Food & Nutrition staff including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
Monitor meal service procedures and conduct regular quality improvement audits.
Environmental Services
Oversee and coordinate housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance services to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and staff.
Develop and implement work routines, preventative maintenance schedules, and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, heating, etc.).
Ensure compliance with all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards (including WHMIS, OH&S).
Manage environmental services budgets, equipment, and supply purchasing.
Supervise Environmental Services staff including hiring, orientation, in-service education, and performance management.
Complete work orders and collaborate with corporate Environmental Coordinators as needed.
Act as an integral member of the leadership team, participating in site-wide decision-making and initiatives related to resident care and safety.
What You Will Bring
Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management from a recognized program and active membership with Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or Registered Dietitian designation.
Post-secondary education in Building Services Supervision or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
Sound knowledge of Long-Term Care Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and infection prevention protocols.
Proficient computer and clinical documentation skills.
Strong knowledge of basic therapeutic nutrition and dietary regulations for long-term care.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Effective time management with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
