About EHS Support

EHS Support is a specialty environmental consulting firm that provides solutions to complex environmental, health, and safety challenges across a range of market sectors and industries. With experts located throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, we form long-lasting partnerships with our clients through a culture of excellence, innovation, work ethic, and integrity. We focus on hiring and retaining talented, motivated people who enjoy collaborating with and delivering value to our clients. Our team does more than identify problems— we provide solutions.

Location: Brisbane, QLD - flexible home, office and field-based role

About the Role:

We are seeking an environmental scientist or engineer to join our Queensland team and contribute to the technical delivery of environmental site assessment, monitoring, compliance and remediation projects. This role is well suited to a practitioner who has developed strong field, data and reporting capability and is ready to take ownership of discrete technical tasks, support project delivery and work more closely with senior staff on complex assignments. The position offers exposure to a broad range of clients and sectors, including oil and gas, chemicals, heavy industry and water resources.

The position involves a practical and flexible mix of field, office and home-based work, with periodic travel to regional locations (typically medium-duration trips). While project delivery is primarily Australia-focused, there may be opportunities to support interstate or international work as your experience develops. The preferred location is Brisbane, although other locations will be considered.

Typical responsibilities:

·Plan and deliver discrete technical tasks across environmental site assessment, monitoring and remediation projects under the guidance of senior staff.

·Lead or coordinate routine field programs and site-based investigations, including groundwater and surface water monitoring, soil sampling, site inspections and compliance monitoring.

·Manage, analyse and interpret environmental datasets, including groundwater, surface water and soil data, and prepare clear summaries, figures and technical commentary.

·Undertake desktop investigations, background reviews and data compilation to support project planning and technical interpretation

·Draft sections of technical reports and project deliverables, including:

·Environmental site assessment and monitoring reports

·Work plans and sampling and analysis plans

·Health, safety and environmental documentation

·Rehabilitation, closure and compliance reporting.

·Coordinate and supervise subcontractors during field activities (e.g. drilling, excavation and rehabilitation works)

·Support project planning, including scope definition, scheduling, tracking of deliverables and management of task budgets.

As experience develops, there will be increasing opportunities to lead discrete tasks and work packages, contribute to technical interpretation and problem solving, and take a more active role in client interactions and project delivery.

Position Requirements:

This opportunity is suited for an adaptable, capable and self-motivated individual who enjoys practical implementation of field programs, data analysis and technical problem solving. The following attributes are important for success in this role:

·Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with an attention to detail

·Clear and concise technical writing ability

·A practical and efficient approach to fieldwork, with a strong focus on data quality and defensible outcomes

·Ability to work independently, whilst seeking support from other practitioners at key points

·Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a project team

·Appreciation and conscientious application of health, safety and environment standards.

Qualifications for this role include:

·Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, hydrogeology, soil science or other relevant science/engineering degree

·Approximately 3–5 years’ experience in environmental consulting or a closely related technical role

·Demonstrated experience in groundwater and soil sampling and environmental monitoring programs

·A developing understanding of environmental and resource regulatory frameworks and guidelines

·Data management experience (experience with R, Power BI and other database management experience is preferred, but not essential)

·Australian experience and a current ability to work in Australia (citizenship or valid visa) is required

·Current Australian state driving license.
