Job Description

This role requires a compliance expert to lead & support global environmental regulatory strategies for our consumer electronic products. Responsibilities include managing material compliance (RoHS, REACH, PFAS), packaging/battery directives, EPR programs, and managing packaging audits.

Core Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Strategy & Implementation:Research, plan, and implement country specific environmental regulations including but not limited to material compliance, RoHS (EU, UK, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, UAE, Russia), REACH, WEEE, Prop65, TSSA, Packaging Directive/PPWR, EUDR, and restricted substances (Halogen, PFAS, PVC, EPS, PAH etc ), Sweeden Chemical Tax, Conflict Minerals, ErP, MEPS, DOE, NRCAN, BCS, Battery regulation etc
  • Documentation & Data Management: Validate BOMs, assess Material Data, MSDS/SDS, and manage conformity assessments for products, batteries, accessories, spare parts and packaging.
  • Operational Compliance: Lead Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs & train subsidiaries, handle regional notifications, declarations & reports, and manage regulatory authority audits.
  • Internal compliance: Establish best practices & lead improvement initiatives
  • Risk & Communication: Monitor legislations/regulations/standards, stay up to date, perform risk assessments, communicate critical risks, impacts and recommend solutions to mitigate risks to stakeholders.
  • Sustainability: Identify & bridge the gap between sustainability ambitions and regulatory requirements, ensuring that green initiatives are actionable, compliant, and defensible in global market

Key Responsibilities

  • Extended Producer's Responsibility (EPR): Lead and manage EPR, ensuring all country-specific requirements for product, packaging and batteries are met.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Engage with authorities and service providers for environmental compliance, participate in regional industry groups representing company.
  • Internal Standards: Develop and maintain internal environmental standards, specifications, and declarations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar with 5+ years’ experience OR Diploma with 8+ years of experience in consumer electronics (A/V or ITE).
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of worldwide environmental regulations, hands on experience in managing complex environmental programs for material conformity, master data management systems and reporting.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, ability to train and influence project stakeholders/suppliers, and capability to adapt to fast-paced regulatory changes. Ability to adapt well & apply agile to fast-paced regulatory changes, directions, and strategy.

    • Focused, meticulous, willing to learn new regulations and fast learner.
    • Ability to think strategically beyond day-to-day work, make decisions, take responsibility and be accountable.

    • Able to develop intercultural collaboration.
  • Advantageous:
  • Experience in RF, EMC, and Product Safety regulations
  • Experience in using CIM Database System by CONTACT software.
