A Day in the Life

Our Environmental Project Manager position is located in SE Remote.

The annual salary range for this role is $90K to $110K, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a variety of environmental compliance projects including but not limited to: Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans; Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans; Hazardous Waste Stream Determinations; Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Management Plans; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act Reports.

  • Assuming Project Management responsibilities including being the senior technical lead, working with a project team to manage risk, meeting project profitability goals, and managing both the internal team performance and client expectations.

  • Responsible for estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of company standards.

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of technical staff assigned to projects by assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance.

  • Conduct field work at client sites to collect data and conduct meetings and trainings.

  • Oversees development of project document deliverable outlines and layouts, technical writing of reports, data interpretation, and development of graphical presentations in a logical and professional manner.

  • Overseeing administrative and financial aspects of Project Management including proposals, project set ups, forecasting, invoicing, and subcontractor management

  • Acts as a client manager to understand customer needs and distributes work assignments and proposals to appropriate teams. Consults with clients to prepare plans, reports, and assessments.

  • Communicates to leadership when potential issues are foreseen, or potential issues arise that may inhibit performing tasks within the allotted schedule and budget.

  • Oversees project set up and authorization paperwork to include: project authorizations, contracts, subcontracts, purchase order requests, and project schedules.

  • Oversees project financial management duties to include: project projections, project invoicing, subcontractor invoice approvals, progress reporting, and project/subcontractor contract compliance.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.

  • Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.

  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.

  • Performing other duties as assigned

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering or Environmental Studies; Advanced Degree preferred

  • 10+ years of related experience, including internships and/or related scientific/field of study experience

  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)

  • General knowledge of environmental compliance and/or environmental engineering principles

  • Knowledgeable of regulatory standards in an environmental technical area

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and management skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Ability to work well in a team-driven environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders

  • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher class

  • OSHA 30-hour training preferred

  • Ability to meet Level 2 Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) training requirements per EM 385-1-1 preferred

  • Ability to travel (<35%)
