Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Environmental Project Manager

Edmonton, AB

At Worley Consulting, we partner with customers to manage environmental liabilities and support effective restoration across the asset lifecycle. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of Liability Management and Restoration (LMR) projects supporting oil and gas field operations in the Cold Lake region.

This role is suited to an experienced environmental professional with a strong technical foundation and the ability to translate regulatory, customer, and operational requirements into clear and practical execution strategies. You will be accountable for project planning, delivery, and performance, while building trusted customer relationships and supporting consistent, predictable outcomes across the portfolio.

Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a key role in strengthening Worley Consulting’s presence in the region through safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.

This position will be working a hybrid schedule from the Worley Consulting’s Edmonton office, with occasional travel to Cold Lake as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental projects in accordance with contractual requirements, regulatory frameworks, and Worley Consulting governance.
  • Plan, execute, and optimize Liability Management and Restoration (LMR) programs to support operational efficiency, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Complete and oversee Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental site assessments.
  • Support and manage an existing Worley client portfolio, acting as a primary point of contact for project delivery.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen effective working relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Clearly define and align client objectives, ensuring project outcomes meet agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Establish consistent work execution approaches, operational metrics, and management practices across client teams.
  • Provide strong health, safety, and environmental leadership across all projects and field activities.
  • Coordinate and support integrated, multi-disciplinary teams delivering environmental services.
  • Manage contractor and vendor performance, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Support proposal development and, where required, take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals, reports, and technical deliverables.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to support project execution and maintain strong customer engagement.

Qualifications / Skill Set

Technical and Professional Experience

  • Technical diploma or university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Professional designation such as P.Tech, P.Eng, or P.Ag is required.
  • Typically 7+ years of project experience in an environmental consulting and/or engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and Western Canadian provincial environmental regulations, with experience supporting projects in Alberta.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise environmental field investigations.
  • Ability to present technical information clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.

Customer and Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Clear and confident communication of project requirements, contractual obligations, customer expectations, key performance indicators, and project status.
  • Experience managing contractor and vendor relationships with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable coordinating teams across multiple workstreams.
  • Willingness to take ownership of outcomes and support continuous improvement in project delivery.
