Agency Overview
The Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), which oversees over $2 billion in capital programs and projects, is responsible for capital planning, project delivery, property management, and real estate services for the Commonwealth. We are stewards of the Commonwealth’s assets, which include 61 million square feet of state buildings. As an agency, we care for the people of our state and the future of our planet.
DCAMM is a central agency in implementing several key policy priorities of the Healey-Driscoll Administration, including promoting decarbonization and climate resilience in all state facilities, identifying and facilitating opportunities to repurpose underutilized state property for housing production, and increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in public construction contracting and in the public construction workforce.
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
This Environmental Project Manager position is part of the Environmental Services Unit and will be responsible for day-to-day coordination and execution of complex environmental compliance, environmental assessment, remediation, corrective action and industrial hygiene projects.
Incumbent responsible for the overall execution of each project assigned. This position will use her/his environmental subject matter expertise in managing environmental projects, including coordinating the efforts of the project team to ensure successful planning and execution of projects, collaborating with internal and external clientele to develop project schedules and milestones, establish project deliverables, commitments, and resolve deficiencies. The selected candidate will be responsible for: the generation of technical scopes of work and cost estimates; the generation, revision, and production of reports throughout the life cycle of each project; and for quality control review of technical report deliverables to both internal agency staff and public regulatory agencies. In addition, proactive management and communication regarding project status and technical assessment outcomes is a primary responsibility of this position, with consultants/contractors, internal clients and DCAMM management.
He/she will be also responsible to represent the Environmental Services Unit with other DCAMM Business Units, other Commonwealth Agencies, the public, and interested stakeholders, as assigned.
This position requires a motivated and capable person that can proactively manage and complete multiple tasks/projects with varying schedules. The position will report to 1 Ashburton Place in Boston, MA but includes both office and field responsibilities. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) six years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in the field of environmental engineering. civil engineering, sanitary engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or public health engineering and (B) of which at least four years must have been in a professional capacity and (C) of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory, managerial or administrative capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree with a major In civil engineering or civil engineering technology may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in environmental engineering, civil engineering. civil engineering technology, sanitary engineering. mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or public health engineering may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
III. A Graduate degree with a major in environmental engineering, civil engineering, sanitary engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or public health engineering may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience.*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (C) experience.
