ELKHART COUNTY GOVERNMENTAL POSITION VACANCY NOTICE

Environmental Health Specialist I

DEPARTMENT: Health Department

HIRING RANGE: $29.59-$32.86/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday 8 - 5 p.m.; Tuesday - Friday 8 - 4 p.m.; requires weekend hours

LOCATION OF POSITION: Public Services Building - Dunlap

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Within County (please complete driving page on application)

Responsible for educating and protecting the public by supporting disease prevention and
solutions to environmental problems and providing awareness of activities/behaviors that adversely affect the environment and public health.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in environmental health, biology, chemical or physical science
• Ability to compile, collate, classify, analyze, and evaluate data and take action based on data analysis
• Excellent organizational, communication skills and a sound knowledge of office procedures and practices
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Pre-employment background check
