Windsor, Ontario is one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.
We have an opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day environmental, health, and safety functions at the site. You will help plan, establish, implement, and maintain programs to ensure the highest level of safety for employees. This position is key to supporting compliance, risk management, and sustainability initiatives across the site.
Shift: Monday -Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Location: Windsor, ON
100% Onsite
The Role
Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, rules, permits, and licenses relevant to the site
Facilitate training in compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements
Develop environmental, health, and safety standards, procedures, and programs in alignment with Catalent standards
Conduct risk assessments, job task and safety analysis, and behavior observations to detect and correct unsafe acts or behaviors
Lead or co-chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee in accordance with the Terms of Reference
Support environmental protection and sustainability initiatives at the site, including waste reduction, energy use, and water use reduction
Manage and support security programs and protocols, including visitor management (Cloudgate), access control, CCTV management, and incident reporting
Perform other duties as required
The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Human Resources, or related field is required
3+ years of experience working in a health and safety capacity is required
Occupational Health and Safety Certificate is an asset
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset
Experience working in a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and/or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility is preferred
Catalent participates in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on a limited basis
Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming Canadian equivalency as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as World Education Services (WES)
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Use of manual dexterity is required. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. There is also the potential exposure to chemicals.
Preferred Skills & Background
Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, environmental management systems, applicable legislation, Codes of Practice, permitting, reporting requirements, and safe work practices
Experience supporting workplace health and safety programs, including risk assessments, accident and incident investigations, workplace inspections, and return-to-work programs
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility, negotiate effectively, influence stakeholders, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently, manage multiple priorities, conduct thorough investigations, and complete work according to established schedules and requirements
Pay
The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary within this range $65,000 – $90,000 Plus Bonus, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a global employer, and this salary range does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
