Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Program Leader to champion a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory excellence. This role is responsible for leading and integrating multiple regulatory and corporate EHS programs to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, as well as internal standards. The ideal candidate will drive the development and execution of site-wide strategies focused on risk reduction, injury prevention, and continuous improvement.
As the EHS leader, you will lead the EHS Department and establish ownership of critical EHS metrics, analyze performance trends, and implement proactive solutions that enhance safety outcomes and operational sustainability. You will partner across multiple departments to promote EHS principles into daily operations, influence behavior at all levels, and ensure accountability for achieving measurable results in safety, compliance, and environmental performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the site EHS function, providing direction, coaching, and accountability for the EHS team to ensure high performance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Own and drive key EHS metrics (I/I rates, audit finding closure, program progress environmental compliance indicators), including setting targets, monitoring trends, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to achieve measurable improvements.
  • Ensure all regulatory and corporate EHS programs are effectively implemented, maintained, and audited to meet federal, state, local, and company compliance requirements.
  • Maintain key environmental compliance and green initiatives across the site.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple EHS programs across diverse functions, including engineering, manufacturing, administration, refurbishment, and service operations, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and development for EHS staff and other assigned personnel responsible for specific program areas (e.g., environmental compliance, safety training, radiation safety, etc.)
  • Implement strategies for continual risk reduction with focus on high-risk safety and environmental programs.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to integrate EHS principles into daily operations, capital projects, and process improvements.
  • Interface with senior leadership and corporate EHS leaders to deliver clear, data-driven updates on EHS performance, risks, and initiatives during operational and business reviews.
  • Drive a culture of safety ownership and accountability at all levels through engagement, communication, and leadership presence across all departments.

Required Qualifications: (outline the minimum requirements)

  • Bachelor of Science in EHS, Environmental Compliance, Industrial Hygiene, or related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety programs or
  • High School diploma/GED equivalent + 10 years experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety programs.
  • Regulatory knowledge and experience working under U.S. federal and state and /or equivalents regulations covering contamination, site investigation and property transfer such as CERCLA, RCRA, OSHA, TSCA, ISRA, etc. and capable of learning requirements and applying this experience internationally
  • Compliance experience with federal and state EHS regulations (UDEQ, OSHA, NRC, codes, etc.)
  • Proven project and program management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications (ASP, CSP, CIH,OHST, etc.)
  • Experience leading multiple EHS Programs and owners across all levels of leadership.
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team across different time zones.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
