Responsibilities

Your Role:

The EHS Manager position will provide leadership, counsel, and perform as an effective facilitator to influence development of a proactive approach to safety, health and environmental issues. The principal challenges include assuring that sound Environmental, Safety, and Health Management systems are in place; anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling safety and health hazards; providing expert input into problem-solving and implementation relative to those hazards; and monitoring and continually improving the performance of Health and Safety Management Systems.

  • Providing focus, definition and technical expertise for the development of a proactive EHS plan that is consistent with RCP’s corporate policies, vision, values and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Providing communication and training to plant management that will insure all levels of plant personnel understand their roles and functions for identifying and resolving of EHS issues, complying with EHS regulations and WWHP and minimizing civil and criminal exposure of plant and corporate personnel for plant EHS events and activities.
  • Maintaining awareness of and proactively influencing emerging and existing EHS laws/regulation, which may impact plant operation. Negotiating environmental permits that reflect cost effective process design, reasonable operating constraints, and are consistent with corporate environmental policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects, while adhering to RCP safety expectation.
  • Establishing and maintaining communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance necessary to ensure that the department managers are fully informed about all Health policies and applicable laws and regulations in a timely fashion.
  • Take steps necessary to assure that all employment practices under his or her control, including hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, and discipline are conductive so as to comply with equal employment opportunity laws and Company policy with regard to sex, religion, national origin, age, and physical disabilities. The incumbent shall endeavor to remain generally abreast of local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes governing equal opportunity practices.
  • Maintain plant compliance with all EPA reporting regulations, including air emissions, PCB’s asbestos, waste streams, etc.
  • Maintain plant SPCC plan and assures compliance as appropriate.
  • Maintain plant compliance with MSD.
  • Accompany regulatory personnel on inspections.
  • Review MSDS for environmental reporting requirements.
  • Audit vendor recycling and disposal facilities to reduce plant liability.
  • Maintain compliance regarding hazardous material by conducting weekly inspections, preparing Hazardous Waste Disposal and Waste Water Reports, advising plant personnel on hazardous waste handling and obtaining samples and analysis of possible hazardous material.
  • Maintain Emergency Action Plan.
  • In locations where applicable, responsible to comply with the SQF and GMP practices and programs to ensure safe food packaging product and to report food safety problems to those with authority to take action.
  • Ensures adherence to all product quality and safety standards.
  • Maintains up to date departmental quality and plantwide safety records.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field.
  • 5+ years of related professional health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel (5%).
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
  • Must have strong demonstrated experience in case management and Behavioral Based Safety methods.

Icing on the cake:

  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • Appropriate professional certification of CIH, CSP or CHP a plus

Posted Salary Range

USD $111,000.00 - USD $160,950.00 /A

Bonus Eligibility

Role is eligible for 14% annual incentive provided the business meets financial goals and the individual meets their performance goals, subject to plan administration guidelines.
