Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator - Colby, WI
This is an exempt level position

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator assists in supporting a culture where safety, health, environmental stewardship, and sustainability are core values within the facility. This position assists the EHS Manager with EHS programs and provides administrative and technical support to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Working closely with the EHS Manager and other team members, the EHS Coordinator helps identify potential hazards, supports risk reduction efforts, and contributes to maintaining an audit-ready environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support and promote the facility’s EHS culture by assisting with and completing delegated tasks, initiatives, and projects as assigned by the EHS Manager.
  • Assist the EHS Manager and facility management with tracking Safety and Environmental Action Plan items and follow-up tasks.
  • Spend time in the plant to observe operations, engage with employees, and help reinforce safe work practices.
  • Help track and report safety performance indicators through the company’s safety management systems.
  • Participate in safety engagement programs and assist with maintaining EHS documentation and records.
  • Help implement and update EHS procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support compliance efforts.
  • Assist EHS Manager in data, reports, and metrics in the EHS Guardian System.
  • Assist with risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
  • Support incident investigations by gathering information and helping track corrective actions.
  • Help coordinate return-to-work activities and documentation for injured colleagues as needed.
  • Assist EHS Manager with scheduling and organizing EHS training sessions and maintaining training records.
  • Provide general support to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and other teams on EHS-related matters.
  • Assist EHS Manager with communicating EHS expectations and updates throughout the facility.
  • Assist EHS Manager with contractors to review basic safety requirements and ensure compliance with site policies.

Environmental Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding or interest in environmental regulations and programs.

  • Assist with environmental compliance activities such as inspections, training, and reporting for stormwater, waste management, and pollution prevention programs.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including tracking and managing facility waste streams.
  • Help assist EHS Manager with Environmental Management System (EMS) records and documentation.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk, and implement effective controls.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation and training delivery.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn company systems and software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience supporting multiple facilities or locations.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing and industrial environment with both indoor and outdoor exposure.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and climb stairs.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including heat and cold.
  • Travel will be required to support additional facilities or projects, occasionally on short notice.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$60,300.00 - $110,400.00
