Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer, on a 10-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £24.68 - £32.56 per hour

The Environmental Health Officer will investigate service requests, make robust enforcement decisions and take appropriate action in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies and enforcement procedures. The role will involve dealing with complex cases, challenging landlords and tenants, preparing enforcement documentation and attending tribunals where notices are appealed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex reactive housing and disrepair cases efficiently and proactively.
  • Investigate environmental health housing service requests and determine appropriate outcomes.
  • Take appropriate enforcement action in line with departmental enforcement policies and relevant legislation.
  • Make robust enforcement decisions under Part 1 of the Housing Act 2004
  • Prepare and serve appropriate notices, specifications, reports, schedules and related documentation.
  • Serve Community Protection Notices (CPNs) where appropriate for failure to comply with notices.

Qualification:

  • BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health.
  • Eligible for EHORB registration as an Environmental Health Officer.

Essentials

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working within Environmental Health Housing
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework relevant to housing environmental health.
  • Extensive experience making robust enforcement decisions and taking enforcement action under Part 1 of the Housing Act 2004
  • Experience managing complex housing and disrepair cases.
  • Knowledge of relevant enforcement policies, procedures and guidance.
