Job Summary:

The EHS Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the organization's health, safety, and environmental programs. This role includes ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing workplace hazards, and fostering a safe and environmentally responsible culture at the Michigan Tweddle Campus.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure safety measures are in place.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement applicable EHS regulations and standards.
  • Ensure the organization complies with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and documentation.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on EHS standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure employees are equipped with necessary safety skills and knowledge and Documentation.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all incidents and corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure timely reporting of incidents to appropriate regulatory bodies as required.
  • Lead initiatives to improve environmental sustainability and reduce the organization's environmental footprint with operations and administrations.
  • Prepare reporting for waste disposal, recycling programs, and energy conservation efforts.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics.
  • Responsible for ISO-14001, EMS system information audit.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular emergency drills and training.
  • Ensure readiness of emergency response teams and equipment.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance EHS performance and reduce risks.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in EHS management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in related field required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in related field.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel may be required.
