The Safety Coordinator supports the day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. This role works closely with employees, supervisors, and site leadership to help maintain regulatory compliance, identify and correct workplace hazards, support safety training, and promote a strong safety culture within a manufacturing environment.

Key Areas:

  • Program Coordination: Support site EHS programs, emergency response readiness, safety inspections, training activities, and completion of assigned corrective actions.
  • Program Support: Help maintain safe work practices by monitoring workplace conditions, communicating safety expectations, tracking action items, and supporting updates to EHS procedures and records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and site safety programs.
  • Support ongoing safety initiatives, including employee engagement activities, safety observations, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Compile, report, and analyze safety metrics; support EHS recordkeeping and administration.
  • Coordinate and support safety training programs, including new hire orientation, refresher training, toolbox talks, and required topic-specific training.
  • Promote compliance with safety policies and procedures while encouraging employee participation in hazard identification and risk reduction.
  • Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and execution of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide coaching and support to employees, supervisors, and safety champions on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings and support follow-up activities related to committee action items.
  • Conduct routine inspections of safety and emergency equipment, including eyewash stations, showers, fire extinguishers, AEDs, and first aid supplies.
  • Support the EHS Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring safety/environmental initiatives, key projects, and daily operations.
  • Support Hazardous Energy Control, Hazard Communication, chemical management, and other core EHS programs by assisting with inspections, documentation, training coordination, and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with maintaining program documentation, including procedures, training records, inspection records, and corrective action tracking.
  • Identify opportunities for practical risk reduction and support implementation of sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with production supervisors and department leaders to address safety concerns and support practical solutions that fit daily operations.

Required Qualifications/Professional Experiences

Years of Experience/Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a safety, EHS, or manufacturing support role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and common manufacturing safety programs.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and able to maintain accurate safety records, reports, and training documentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with employees, supervisors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize work, follow up on action items, and support multiple EHS activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
