We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.
This role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Commercial Snow & Ice (CSI) environmental, health and safety programs, by the following: Create, lead, and document the safety training program following OSHA Guidelines. Maintain accurate and compliant safety policies. Ensure the integration of safety in the launch of new product, acquisition of new equipment, and other operational changes. The role is established due to the need for a dedicated resource to keep WTA compliant with its own policies and processes and to drive the continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety performance and a safety-first culture.
The facility’s subject matter expert for all safety topics and use that expertise to guide policy decisions
Advises in the design and selection of new equipment and processes and ensure proper safety measures are in place during implementation
Lead the ongoing enhancement of Safety Management System frameworks, partnering cross-divisionally to integrate best practices and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintains the Safety Database and ensure incident investigations lead to the effective and timely implementation of corrective actions
Proactively seeks out safety improvement ideas and help other employees evaluate them and drive them to conclusion
Initiates regular and frequent safety communications in multiple formats to sustain a safety-focused culture
Leads safety training and ensures that employees receive the appropriate training for their departments and positions
Collects data on our safety performance, analyzes it for trends and opportunities, and reports findings to key leaders
Help ensure OSHA compliance by auditing and monitoring for conformity
Works with individuals at other sites within the division to share best practices and provide support where expertise is required
Fosters teamwork by working across functions with engineering, maintenance, and other departments to pursue improvement opportunities
Plans and leads cross-functional kaizen events for large projects and initiatives
Owns the Safety Observation process and helps others to observe and coach fellow employees
Identifies hazards throughout the plant, defines the appropriate risk controls, and helps supervisors ensure compliance
Ensures policies, procedures, and safety measures are clearly defined and available
Performs tests and conduct measurements and audits related to process controls and exposures
Maintains all required safety documentation for the site and ensure individual records are kept updated
Assures that all applicable environmental regulations are followed
Works with Corporate sustainability team to support ESG reporting and initiatives.
Provide supervision of safety specialist across CSI
EDUCATION OR DEGREE:
Minimum 2-Year Technical/Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Bachelor’s degree a plus
WORKING EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
5+ years of combined experience managing safety programs in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Experience interpreting and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements
Experience with the management of data, including logs and records required to demonstrate compliance
Hands-on design, implementation, management and continuous improvement of a processes, tooling, and equipment with special awareness of:
Ergonomics
Machine Guarding
Interlocks
Respiratory Health
Hearing Conservation
Electrical Safety
Hand Tool Safety
PPE Assessments
Hands-on experience in a Lean Organization using practices equivalent to the Douglas Dynamics Management System [DDMS, based on the Toyota Production System (TPS)]

1st Aid Certified or prepared to become 1st Aid Certified
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Typical travel requirements throughout the year are expected to be 10-25%
