We are currently seeking intern/co-op candidates to learn with us as they engage in a variety of hands-on projects supporting our Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSES) programs alongside our high-performing and authentic Operations team.

Position Summary

As an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Co-op (or Intern), you will support the implementation, improvement, and communication of Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSES) programs within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. You will report to the Environmental Health, Safety & Facilities Manager and work closely with employees and cross-functional teams across the organization.

You will gain experience applying EHS principles to real-world workplace challenges while supporting Bracco Group HSES initiatives and strengthening a proactive safety culture. Depending on the project, your responsibilities will include:

  • EHS Program & Compliance Management: Assist in reviewing and updating core site compliance programs (HazCom, LOTO, PPE, Walking-Working Surfaces) and the Permit to Work process to align with corporate standards and local operations.
  • Proactive Hazard Identification & Root-Cause Analysis: Conduct routine site safety walks and support near-miss/incident investigations using structured problem-solving methods (5-Whys, Fishbone) to identify and fix systemic root causes.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture Leadership: Co-facilitate Safety Committee activities, develop engaging site communications, and lead initiatives like the annual company-wide Safety Day/Spotlight event to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Help plan, coordinate, and execute site fire drills and emergency response exercises, documenting key observations for continuous operational improvement.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives: Support site sustainability goals by analyzing metrics and tracking progress on waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency, and resource conservation projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with manufacturing teams, site leadership, external EHS compliance partners, and Bracco’s Global HSES team to turn regulatory needs into practical, floor-level solutions.

Training to be Provided

Students will be exposed to working with various operations and business functions within Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). They will learn key requirements which need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry.

Training may cover relevant aspects of occupational safety, environmental compliance, risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, EHS program development, safety culture, and continuous improvement. Students will also have opportunities to work with site leadership, manufacturing, engineering, quality, HR, facilities, contractors, external EHS professionals, and Bracco's Global HSES team.

Additionally, our interns and co-ops benefit from a buddy program, career development programming, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Previous internship, co-op, manufacturing, laboratory, facilities, or safety experience.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, workplace safety, or environmental compliance.
  • Experience with data analysis, presentations, project management, or developing training and communication materials

Term/Hours

  • May 2027 start date with a summer and fall semester engagement (co-op) preferred or a 3-month summer engagement (intern).
  • Job Location: Eden Prairie, Minnesota (On-Site; no relocation or housing assistance available).
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.

Compensation & Total Rewards:

Estimated Pay Range: $23.00 – $25.00/hour

*Estimated Starting Pay Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position. The range provided is based on compensation and market data specific to the position.
