PG&E’s Environmental Management Organization includes a staff of approximately 250, Biologists, Cultural Resource Specialists, Environmental Field Specialists, Environmental Planners and Scientists. Our mission is to provide integrated, company-wide environmental leadership, project support, and compliance management services. We are dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship of PG&E’s properties and associated natural resources.
We work closely with state and federal regulators to protect the unique landscapes and environmental resources found across PG&E’s Service Territory in California. Our work requires integration between our team of environmental field specialists, scientists, land planners, and various other environmental subject matter experts, as well as with PG&E legal and PG&E’s Operations teams including gas and electric transmission and distribution, power generation, vegetation management, and all other functional areas we support. PG&E Environmental Management’s directives include, but are not limited to:
Environmental Facility Compliance Management operates within the Environmental Management Organization and consists of about 60 environmental field specialists and scientists covering a range of expertise who support both facilities and projects focused on gas and electric distribution and transmission activities. Our team provides expertise including air and water quality, hazardous waste and materials and environmental field support. Within the Facilities organization the HazMat Programs team supports standards and guidance related to hazardous materials and waste for the entire organization, and the Environmental Field Specialists support all Distribution & Shared Services, Electric Transmission Substations, and Electric Transmission T-Line Projects including Service Centers, General Construction Yards, remote Telecom Microwave Repeater Stations, and all field employees.
The Environmental Facility Compliance Management team is seeking a seasonal intern to support our HazMat Programs and Environmental Field Specialist Facility Compliance teams supporting PG&E Gas & Electric Transmission, Distribution Operations Service Centers, and Telecom facilities. Primarily reporting to our HazMat Program team, this is a valuable opportunity to gain exposure and insight into the complex interconnections between process development, risk management, procedural implementation, quality control and assurance and regulatory compliance as it relates to hazardous materials and waste management from an industry-leading utility. The successful candidate will also assist our Environmental Field Specialist teams supporting direct hands-on facility environmental compliance through field visits, internal facility compliance inspections/assessments, records reviews, and shadowing/mentorship opportunities.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for a bachelor’s degree ranges from $20.88 to $36.42.
