
Put your environmental expertise into practice on a live construction project, taking ownership of site monitoring, compliance and environmental reporting.
We are looking for an Environmental Engineer/Environmental Officer to join a project team based in Penang, Malaysia. This is a hands-on opportunity for an early-career environmental professional who enjoys being out on site, working with technical teams and ensuring environmental activities are completed correctly and to the required standards.
You will support the day-to-day environmental management and monitoring of an active construction site, helping ensure activities meet relevant environmental requirements.
Your role will combine site monitoring with reporting, coordination of third-party environmental activities and liaison with relevant authorities. You will act as an important link between environmental specialists, site teams and other stakeholders, ensuring work is completed appropriately and accurate information is reported.
You will help maintain strong environmental standards across the project by monitoring activities on site and identifying where action may be required.
When third-party laboratories and environmental specialists attend site, you will oversee and monitor their activities to ensure work is being carried out correctly and report the outcomes. You will also maintain environmental records, including straightforward rainfall data collection and reporting, and support engagement with relevant authorities.
You will have a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering with an environmental focus, or a related discipline, alongside 1–2 years’ experience in construction and site-based environmental management.
Experience of environmental monitoring, sampling, report preparation and authority liaison is important. CISEC or CESSWI certification is essential.
This is a site-based position in Penang, Malaysia. Candidates will need to be based in, or able to relocate to, the northern region of Malaysia. Candidates are required to have working rights in Malaysia.
The working pattern is 5.5 days per week, Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. Due to the hands-on nature of the position, full site attendance is required.
The salary range is RM3,500–RM4,000 per month with EPF, SOCSO and HRDF benefits.
