Job Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): You will implement Choctaw Nation’s environmental programs for all tribal facilities, fee and trust lands. You will report to the Environmental Assessment Officer.

Monday-Friday | 8:00am-4:30pm | Hybrid work is a possibility after the first 90 days

Primary Tasks:

1. You will assure compliance with federal, state, local, and tribal regulations for Choctaw Nation facilities by scheduling, conducting, documenting, and following up on sample collections, inspections, and walk throughs.

2. You will complete and train Environmental Coordinators on reviews and assessments. Assist Environmental Specialist and Officers with maintaining review and assessments programs.

3. You will respond to Choctaw Nation internal requests for environmental related assistance.

4. You will train site staff on responsibilities associated with federal, state, local, and tribal regulations.

5. You will maintain necessary technical and assessment certifications to conduct assigned tasks, i.e. sample soil, groundwater, surface water, and other media and subsequently analyze the data.

6. You will maintain Choctaw Nation environmental policies.

7. You will implement environmental policies and best management practices.

8. You will mentor Environmental Coordinators and Technicians. Ensure all data and documents submitted by lower-level coordinators and technicians meet Federal guidelines before signing off and submission.

9. You will submit quarterly progress reports to EPA Project Officer. Complete status and progress reporting documents per program goals. Maintain monthly financial reports and maintain budget spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets). Maintain and revise grant objectives and budget and monitor line-item fluctuations to complete funding obligations.

10. Other tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in a science related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities with direct supervision and input from manager.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· 5 years of related work in the environmental field
