Environmental Coordinator

Classification Exempt

Reports to: Finishing Plant Manager

Job location Finishing Plant, Molena GA

Objective

TenCate Protective Fabrics is seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to lead and support environmental initiatives at our facility. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations while driving a culture of proactive environmental stewardship. The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for managing environmental programs and regulatory compliance to protect our employees, community, and the environment.

Essential Functions

  • Environmental Compliance & Management
  • Manage land application systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Oversee environmental permitting, including Drinking Water, stormwater management, and other required permits.
  • Oversee Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) with consulting partner and ensure compliance with stormwater regulations.
  • Manage hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste programs, ensuring proper handling, disposal, and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including Form R and Tier II reporting.
  • Maintain and improve spill prevention and response programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely reporting.
  • Assist with Sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and local agencies.
  • Experience managing land application systems, environmental permitting including waste management, and stormwater compliance. (preferrable)
  • Proven ability to develop and implement training and risk assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage employees and drive a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses highly specialized lab equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust and various chemicals, and moving mechanical parts, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, and non-skid shoes.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, and walk. The role may also require reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to work outdoors and will be exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain. The work environment may also include exposure to heat, open flames, chemicals, and varying noise levels.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of 7:00am to 3:00pm. Some weekend work is required. Candidates must also be available to work additional hours as needed to meet operational demands.

Travel
This position requires frequent travel to local lab.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Engineering, or related field (preferred)

2 Years of related experience

Knowledge of Georgia environmental requirements would be a strong plus.

Environmental Certifications a plus (Class I or II)

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
