Environmental Compliance Lead
Full time, Permanent
Location – Drax Power Station, Selby

Hybrid working & travel across the UK required

About the role:

This multi-faceted role reports to the Head of Group Environmental Strategy & Compliance and will support the environmental compliance activities at the Drax Generation sites at Drax Power Station, Cruachan, Galloway and Lanark, and the Open Cycle Gas Turbine power stations.

You’ll ensure that Drax Generation assets continue to be a sector leader in environmental compliance and performance through monitoring, reporting, education, advice, and guidance to operational teams.

In this role you’ll provide guidance and support to the business to ensure the environmental permit compliance is considered within the business strategy and deliver strategic change alongside engineering teams to deliver compliance by design.You will also provide guidance and support for development of new assets as required.

Building internal and external relationships are key for this role to ensure environmental, planning and permitting considerations are known at the soonest opportunity in projects.

Your challenge in this role will be to assess existing permits across England, Scotland and Wales and quickly get to grips with their obligations whilst building long lasting relationships with the different environmental regulators.

Who we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have a strong background in environmental regulation and solid experience reporting against permit conditions within a large industrial/combustion plant industry.

If you have experience working with English, Scottish, Welsh and UK wide regulations, that would be a bonus.

You’ll be an adept relationship builder, quickly earning the trust and buy in of both internal and external stakeholders.

A scientific or environmental degree would be beneficial but proven experience in a similar role is more important.
