Job Description

Leidos’ NISC IV Program is seeking a driven and mission‑focused Environmental & Safety Professional to join our team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the safety and sustainability of our national airspace system—work that directly supports the FAA’s mission and the millions of travelers who rely on it every day.

In this role, you’ll be part of a team of specialists who tackle a wide variety of environmental and safety challenges across the Central Service Area. If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy blending fieldwork with technical reporting, and want to help keep critical infrastructure safe, compliant, and resilient, this position offers both purpose and growth.

What You'll Do:

  • Support FAA EOSH programs across multiple disciplines including Asbestos, Lead, Mold, Chemical/Hazardous Waste Management, Drinking Water, Fuel Storage Tanks, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, and more.
  • Conduct environmental and safety sampling using a wide range of instrumentation and techniques.
  • Perform site inspections and surveys, identify risks, and prepare clear, technically sound reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Manage inspection data within digital platforms and maintain accurate, organized documentation.
  • Inspect workplaces for fall hazards and advise on practical, effective mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate safety equipment and provide recommendations for repair or replacement.
  • Deliver training that connects technical content to real‑world work scenarios—from field employees to senior leadership.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, evaluating learners’ performance to ensure successful completion of training requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage your own travel associated with field assignments.
  • Research and interpret federal, state, local, and FAA regulations to support compliance and strengthen EOSH programs.
  • Collaborate with FAA stakeholders at all levels, delivering strong customer service and thoughtful problem solving.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field (4–8 years’ experience), or a Master’s degree (2–6 years’ experience).
  • Hands‑on environmental, health, and safety experience.
  • Ability to work at heights, complete required Fall Protection training, and achieve rescue‑level certification.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and program assessment skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and present technical EOSH reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with SharePoint.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust suitability (U.S. citizens or Green Card holders who have resided in the U.S. for the past three years).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Experience collecting and reporting on asbestos, IAQ, drinking water, and other environmental samples.
  • Technical competence in evaluating Fall Protection and Electrical Safety issues.
