What’s the role?

Seeking a Venezuelan Environmental Advisor to support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental assurance, environmental monitoring, and environmental management activities associated with offshore and onshore projects in Venezuela.

This role is intended for a senior professional who brings strong knowledge of the Venezuelan oil and gas sector, environmental regulatory framework, local industry practices, and field execution realities. The position is expected to provide leadership, guidance, and informed judgment across environmental studies, permitting strategies, environmental compliance programs, environmental monitoring campaigns, environmental reporting, field assurance activities, and contractor oversight.

The role will help shape environmental ways of working, anticipate regulatory and execution risks, guide internal and external stakeholders, and strengthen project decision-making throughout the project lifecycle, from studies and permitting through execution, drilling, construction, logistics support, and future operations.

Accountabilities

Environmental Permitting and Regulatory Compliance

• Support preparation, submission, follow-up and maintenance of environmental permits, authorizations, approvals and regulatory submissions required for project activities.
• Assist in the coordination of environmental studies, impact assessments, environmental management plans and supporting documentation required by regulatory authorities
• Maintain permit registers, compliance trackers, commitment registers and environmental regulatory action plans
• Monitor compliance with permit conditions, environmental commitments and regulatory obligations
• Support regulatory inspections, audits, information requests and compliance verification activities
• Prepare environmental reports, technical summaries and compliance updates required by management and regulatory authorities
• Support engagement and communication with environmental authorities, government agencies, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders

Environmental Studies, Baselines and Monitoring Programs

• Support planning and execution of environmental baseline studies, monitoring programs, technical surveys and environmental assessments
• Coordinate environmental consultants and technical specialists performing environmental fieldwork and data collection activities
• Consolidate environmental data and monitoring results into technical reports and project decision-making processes
• Support implementation of environmental monitoring programs associated with marine ecology, biodiversity, water quality, sediment quality, environmental performance and other project-specific requirements
• Assist in the review of environmental impact assessments, environmental studies and consultant deliverables
• Support environmental data management and maintenance of environmental records, databases and project files

Environmental Compliance, Assurance and Environmental Supervision

• Support implementation of environmental compliance programs and environmental supervision activities required under project approvals and environmental authorizations
• Conduct environmental inspections, site visits, field verification activities and environmental compliance reviews
• Participate in environmental audits and assurance activities involving contractors, vessels, shore bases, logistics facilities, storage locations, waste management contractors and project sites
• Track environmental findings, observations, audit actions and corrective action close-out activities
• Verify implementation of environmental mitigation measures, permit requirements and environmental commitments by contractors and project teams.
• Maintain environmental evidence files and auditable records demonstrating compliance with project requirements

Waste Management and Waste Assurance

• Support development, implementation and maintenance of project waste management plans
• Monitor compliance of waste management activities with regulatory requirements, company standards and project commitments
• Verify segregation, storage, transportation, treatment and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams
• Maintain waste inventories, manifests, disposal records and waste tracking systems.
• Conduct inspections and audits of waste contractors, transport providers, temporary storage areas and waste disposal facilities
• Verify permits, licenses and certifications of waste management contractors and disposal facilities
• Support waste minimization, recycling, circularity and environmental stewardship initiatives
• Monitor chain-of-custody documentation and traceability of waste streams through final treatment or disposal

Environmental Data, Reporting and Performance Management

• Maintain environmental databases, compliance registers, monitoring records, permits, environmental commitments and regulatory correspondence.
• Coordinate collection, verification and analysis of environmental performance data
• Support preparation of environmental performance reports, regulatory submissions and management presentations
• Track environmental KPIs related to waste management, emissions, environmental incidents, monitoring activities and regulatory performance
• Assist in environmental reporting related to emissions, greenhouse gases, resource consumption, waste generation and environmental performance metrics where required.
• Ensure environmental documentation remains accurate, complete, traceable and audit-ready

Environmental Incident Management and Emergency Preparedness

• Support environmental incident reporting, investigation follow-up and corrective action tracking
• Assist in preparation of regulatory notifications and environmental incident reports where required
• Participate in environmental emergency preparedness activities, exercises and response planning
• Support environmental aspects of contingency plans, spill response planning and environmental recovery measures.
• Maintain records of incidents, lessons learned and environmental performance improvement actions

Contractor, Consultant and Third-Party Oversight

• Coordinate environmental consultants, monitoring contractors and specialist environmental service providers
• Review contractor environmental plans, procedures, reports and technical deliverables
• Support environmental onboarding and environmental awareness programs for contractor personnel
• Monitor contractor compliance with environmental requirements and project commitments
• Participate in contractor environmental readiness reviews and performance assessments
• Conduct environmental due diligence reviews of ports, shore bases, storage facilities, waste facilities, logistics yards, contractor facilities and other project-support infrastructure

Offshore and Onshore Environmental Support

• Provide environmental support during offshore and onshore activities, including studies, drilling, construction, logistics operations, vessel activities and future operational phases
• Support environmental planning associated with drilling operations, waste management strategies, discharge management and environmental monitoring requirements
• Participate in environmental readiness reviews and project assurance activities before major execution campaigns
• Support implementation of environmental protection measures during field operations
• Assist with environmental risk identification and mitigation planning

Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Functional Integration

• Work closely with project teams, HSSE personnel, operations teams, regulators, contractors, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Support integration of environmental requirements into project planning and execution activities
• Participate in multidisciplinary reviews and project decision-making processes requiring environmental input
• Support environmental aspects of sustainability initiatives, local content programs and stakeholder commitments when applicable

What you bring

• University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
• 7+ years of proven experience in environmental permitting, environmental compliance, environmental studies, environmental monitoring, environmental management systems, environmental operations, and regulatory assurance
• Strong familiarity with the Venezuelan oil and gas industry, environmental regulatory landscape, permitting processes, field execution requirements and local environmental service market is required
• Demonstrated ability to lead environmental workstreams, guide contractors and consultants, provide practical regulatory advice, support inspections and audits, and influence multidisciplinary teams through subject-matter expertise
• Strong leadership, analytical, regulatory interpretation and reporting capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and interfaces simultaneously
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to translate environmental regulations, permit conditions, technical data and field observations into practical guidance for project teams and contractors.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible operations.
