Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Environment Specialist is responsible for leading the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of water related environmental programs across Canada Packers' hog production operations. The role supports a large, geographically dispersed portfolio of sites across Manitoba and Saskatchewan and is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance. The incumbent functions as a subject matter expert in water management and environmental compliance, providing technical guidance to production teams and acting as a primary liaison with provincial regulators.

Lead water reporting and regulatory submissions and sampling programs in accordance with provincial requirements.
Manage water pond filling operations and cistern cleaning.
Maintain, amend, and renew water licenses, permits, and approvals.
Conduct site inspections and evaluations focused on water systems, environmental controls, and regulatory compliance.
Lead our water saving initiative - includes on-farm visits, use of measuring devices and minor maintenance activities.
Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans to address deficiencies.
Support environmental incident response, investigation, and follow up.
Inspect and audit manure storage structures with emphasis on water protection and environmental risk.
Coordinate components of the Manure Management Program, including vendor oversight, permitting, biosecurity considerations, and documentation.
Support regulatory inspections, reviews, and correspondence.
Provide coaching, training, and guidance to barn and production staff on water & manure regulations, procedures, and best management practices.
Oversee fallen stock cooler maintenance and repair.

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Engineering (Biosystems), Agriculture Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Strong preference for experience in water management, environmental compliance, agronomy, or soil science.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex regulatory programs across multiple sites.

Valid driver’s licence with willingness to travel within Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including occasional overnight stays.
