Environment, Health, & Safety Manager

Location: McKenzie, TN

At Allegion, we keep people safe and secure where they live, learn, work, and connect. With more than 30 brands sold in 120 countries, we specialize in security for entryways and beyond—ranging from residential and commercial locks and door closers to exit devices, steel doors and frames, access control, and productivity systems. We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead EHS and sustainability at our hollow metal facility in McKenzie, Tennessee. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution to create a safe, compliant, and healthy workplace while ensuring on-time production of hollow metal doors and frames and upholding strong risk management and environmental stewardship. You will own and drive the site’s EHS performance across incident prevention, regulatory compliance, training, audits, contractor safety, and sustainability, and partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and HR to embed safety into planning, change management, and daily work.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain accurate EHS and sustainability metrics, develop improvement strategies, and track progress against short- and long-term goals.
  • Lead incident investigations (including near misses, first aid and recordable cases), identify root causes and systemic factors, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee activities, Kaizen events and Job Safety Analyses to detect, reduce or eliminate hazards.
  • Conduct EHS risk assessments for new projects, process changes or capital investments and collaborate with project teams to integrate effective controls.
  • Develop and deliver training, awareness programs and toolbox talks based on regulations, policies or incident trends.
  • Oversee the site’s EHS Management System, procedures, plans, permits and standard operating procedures; conduct regular audits, update documents and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage the facility’s wastewater treatment system, ensuring permit compliance, overseeing operations and maintenance, coordinating sampling and reporting, driving process optimization, and liaising with regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and maintain robust emergency preparedness and response programs, including spill response and environmental incident plans.
  • Direct environmental, health and safety audits and inspections, communicate findings and recommendations to facility leadership, and track closure of action items.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders—operations, maintenance, engineering and contractors—to identify EHS risks and gain alignment on priorities.
  • Coach and mentor site leaders to assess and control risk, reinforce safe behaviors and integrate EHS into daily management.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs; coordinate medical monitoring and industrial hygiene activities as required.
  • Manage regulatory reporting—air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, EPCRA, OSHA logs, DOT—and stay current with evolving Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Ensure contractor and visitor compliance with EHS and security requirements.
  • Support regional and corporate EHS initiatives, audits and continuous improvement projects.
  • Other duties as assigned to support facility growth, productivity and risk management.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and local EHS regulations and permitting (Hazardous Waste, Air, Stormwater, Wastewater, OSHA, DOT, EPCRA).
  • Experience managing a wastewater treatment plant or equivalent industrial water treatment system.
  • Strong incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective action management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and build partnerships across all levels of a matrix organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

  • Professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM or CEM)
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, International Building Code and FM Global standards
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification or experience leading Kaizen events
