With a commitment to a complete product lifecycle, PTDD drives a successful integration of rotating and stationary components in a power train shaft-line (NPI, ITO, OTR) together with a technical leadership to support data driven and physics-based resolution of vibration field issues (RCA, ER, NCR).

As an Engineer on the PTDD team, you will analyze successful power train designs using the latest analytical tools, and establish resolutions for customer issues focused on shaft line vibration. You will help drive solutions for complex issues, bridging together the design and services focus areas of the team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical deliverables in the area of rotordynamics and shaft-line components design throughout the businesses to include Gas, Steam, Generator, manufacturing and sourcing procurement: rotor T&L (Torsional & Lateral) analysis, rotor alignment procedures, blade out loads calculation, input for power train foundation specification, functional requirements for bearings and SSS clutches, modeling and prediction of field units’ dynamic behavior
  • Provide troubleshooting support globally for field shaft line vibration issues (gas turbines, steam turbines, generators), resolving technical issues timely and efficiently
  • Work with field teams to assure that all assets meet design intention in as built condition for successful customer operation
  • Support root cause investigations for issues with significant customer specific or fleet wide impact from initial investigation through the CAPA phase
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers
