The Risk Management (RM) Specialist supports the organization’s enterprise risk, insurance, and business continuity programs by maintaining risk documentation, processing certificates of insurance, assisting with coordination of insurance activities, supporting claims management processes, and assisting with risk analysis and reporting. This role plays an important part in helping the organization identify, document, and mitigate operational and financial risks across the enterprise.

The Risk Management Specialist collaborates with internal departments such as Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and Security, as well as external partners including insurance brokers and service providers. In addition to managing insurance-related documentation and processes, the role contributes to risk assessments, corporate security initiatives, and business continuity planning activities to ensure the organization is prepared to manage operational disruptions and evolving business risks.

This position provides exposure to a broad range of enterprise risk management activities and offers opportunities to participate in strategic initiatives, process improvements, and cross-functional projects that strengthen the organization’s overall risk posture.

ResponsibilitiesInsurance Program Administration

  • Maintain and update documentation for the organization’s insurance programs, including policies, program summaries, coverage documentation, and related records.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of materials required for annual insurance renewals and policy placements.
  • Support coordination with insurance brokers and carriers to ensure accurate and timely program administration.
  • Assist with the allocation of insurance expenses to operating companies and business units.
  • Maintain detailed records of insurance coverage and assist internal stakeholders with insurance-related inquiries.

Certificates of Insurance & Vendor Risk Documentation

  • Issue and manage Certificates of Insurance for customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Maintain documentation related to vendor insurance requirements and compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate and timely documentation of coverage requirements.

Claims Management Support

  • Assist with the administration and documentation of first- and third-party insurance claims.
  • Coordinate claims-related communication among internal departments such as Accounting, Legal, Human Resources, and Operations.
  • Track claims activity and support documentation and reporting required for TPA, insurance carriers, and internal leadership.

Captive Insurance & Risk Financing Support

  • Support administrative activities related to the organization’s captive insurance company.
  • Assist with the calculation and issuance of captive insurance premiums.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to captive insurance activities.

Business Continuity & Operational Resilience

  • Assist with administration of the organization’s Business Continuity Program.
  • Coordinate scheduling of business continuity exercises and support testing activities.
  • Maintain and update business continuity documentation and plans.
  • Support internal teams in identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies related to operational disruptions.

Corporate Security & Risk Policies

  • Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of corporate security policies and procedures.
  • Support initiatives designed to strengthen enterprise risk awareness and risk management practices across the organization.
  • Ensure risk management activities align with internal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to corporate insurance programs, claims administration, or risk management practices preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external service providers.

SKILLS:

  • Understanding of insurance principles, risk management concepts, and corporate insurance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic business environment.
