The Windows Platform Analyst is responsible for supporting and operating enterprise compute platforms across a hybrid environment including on-prem data centers and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on day-to-day operations, administration, and support of Windows Server environments, VMware virtualization, and cloud-based compute services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator with foundational technical skills who can execute operational tasks, follow established standards, and support stable, secure, and scalable Windows-based infrastructure environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operations of Windows-based compute platforms across on-prem and cloud environments (GCP).
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server systems to support business processing requirements.
- Assist in provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines in GCE and VMware environments.
- Support hybrid infrastructure operations, ensuring system availability, performance, and stability.
- Participate in execution of infrastructure builds and migration activities (on-prem to cloud, cloud-to-cloud) under guidance of senior engineers.
- Perform routine system administration tasks including patching, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Windows environments.
- Support Active Directory–integrated environments, including user/group management, Group Policy (GPO), and authentication services.
- Execute Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tasks using predefined templates and automation tools where applicable.
- Follow established runbooks for provisioning, incident response, and operational activities.
- Monitor system performance and respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with middleware, application, networking, and security teams to support platform requirements.
- Assist in troubleshooting incidents and perform basic root cause analysis with escalation as needed.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards, patching policies, and compliance requirements.
- Support Active Directory–integrated environments, including user/group management, Group Policy (GPO), and authentication services.
- Manage and support core infrastructure services including internal DNS, DHCP, virtual IPs (VIPs), and load balancing configurations in support of application and platform availability.
- Monitor and maintain DNS zones, DHCP scopes, and IP address allocation to ensure reliable network services.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation, providing after-hours support for production systems and incident response.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016/2019/2022).
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP services.
Working knowledge of enterprise DNS, DHCP, VIP (Virtual IP), and load balancing concepts and operations.
Basic understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Compute Engine (GCE).
Familiarity with VMware environments (vSphere / vCenter) and virtual machine lifecycle management.
Understanding of hybrid infrastructure concepts (on-prem + cloud).
Exposure to automation and scripting (PowerShell preferred).
Ability to follow operational procedures and implement predefined technical solutions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production support environment.
Strong attention to detail and ownership in executing assigned tasks.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across IT domains.
Willingness to learn and grow across cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 2–5+ years of experience in IT operations, Windows system administration, or infrastructure support roles.
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments.
- Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware preferred).
- Experience working in enterprise IT or data center environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other public cloud platforms.
- Experience supporting Active Directory and enterprise identity services.
- Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell or similar).
- Experience supporting hybrid (cloud + on-prem) environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident/change management.
