Job Description

St John of God Health Care is one of Australia's largest and most respected private health care providers, employing over 15,000 caregivers across a diverse network of hospitals and community services. With 25 hospitals and services, more than 3,200 hospital beds, home nursing, disability support, and social outreach programs, we are committed to delivering exceptional care and supporting healthier communities.

About the role

The Enterprise Architect plays a key role in shaping SJGHC's technology landscape by providing practical enterprise architecture leadership across the organisation. Working closely with technology, project, and delivery teams, this role develops technology roadmaps, target-state architectures, and strategic direction that support business priorities, enable informed investment decisions, and drive long-term organisational outcomes.

This role is responsible for strengthening architecture governance and ensuring technology solutions are secure, scalable, interoperable, and supportable. Through the review of solution designs, establishment of architecture standards, and proactive management of technology risks, the Enterprise Architect drives simplification across the technology portfolio, reduces complexity and technical debt, and enables a more efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective technology environment.

The role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis (38 hours per week) and can be based in either our Perth office on Wellington Street or our Melbourne office on Collins Street, providing flexibility to work from either location while collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise architecture strategies, principles, standards, and technology roadmaps that align technology investments with organisational objectives.
  • Provide practical architecture leadership and governance across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, integration, security, and emerging technologies to support informed decision-making.
  • Drive technology simplification and optimisation by reducing duplication, legacy systems, technical debt, and unnecessary complexity across the technology landscape.
  • Review and guide technology solutions and investments to ensure they are secure, scalable, interoperable, supportable, and aligned with architecture standards and target-state direction.
  • Partner with business, clinical, technology, and delivery teams to develop target-state architectures, manage strategic dependencies, and support transformation initiatives.
  • Assess emerging technologies and identify opportunities for capability improvement, platform reuse, consolidation, and long-term technology sustainability.

To be successful in this role, you will bring extensive experience in enterprise or solution architecture, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience. You will have a proven ability to develop practical enterprise architectures, technology roadmaps, architecture standards, and target-state strategies that guide technology investment and support organisational objectives. Your broad understanding of applications, infrastructure, cloud, cyber security, data, integration, and emerging technologies will enable you to assess solutions effectively and drive long-term technology sustainability.

You will be a strategic yet pragmatic thinker with strong experience in architecture governance, solution review, technology lifecycle management, and technology portfolio optimisation. A demonstrated ability to reduce technology complexity, rationalise legacy platforms, manage technical debt, and drive standardisation will be essential. Success in this role will also require exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence decision-making, translate complex concepts for diverse audiences, and provide practical architectural guidance that delivers measurable business value, improved technology outcomes, and reduced operational risk.

Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

All applicants are requested to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.

We can offer you
