Job Type: PermanentApplication Deadline: 30 April 2026

Title Enterprise Architect

Department FIL Fondsbank

Location Kronberg

Reports To Head of IT Governance

Level 6 - Senior Manager

We’re proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our FIL Fondsbank team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.

About your role

As Enterprise Architect, you will play a key role in the strategic evolution of our bank. You will align business strategy, regulatory requirements, and technological innovation into a sustainable and future-proof target architecture.

You see architecture as a transformation steering instrument – not as documentation in tools.

Strategic Architecture Leadership

  • Develop and continuously refine a clear target architecture aligned with business strategy, risk strategy, and regulatory requirements
  • Derive architectural guardrails for major transformation initiatives (digitalization, automation, cloud, data strategy)
  • Evaluate strategic investments from an architecture and value-creation perspective

Transformation & Innovation

  • Actively shape the bank’s digital transformation journey
  • Identify emerging technologies (e.g., AI, cloud-native architectures, API ecosystems) and assess their strategic relevance
  • Design modern, modular, and resilient architectural patterns

Governance with Impact

  • Establish pragmatic architecture governance that enables speed rather than slows it down
  • Act as a sparring partner for Executive Management, business units, and IT leadership in strategic decisions
  • Ensure consistency, scalability, and technical sustainability

Bridging Business and IT

  • Translate business requirements into robust architectural solutions
  • Moderate strategic trade-offs (e.g., time-to-market vs. stability vs. cost efficiency)
  • Foster a shared understanding of architecture across the organization

About you

  • Several years of experience in enterprise, domain, or solution architecture – ideally within the banking sector
  • Strong understanding of core banking processes (e.g., lending, payments, regulatory reporting, risk management)
  • Experience in large-scale transformation initiatives, core banking modernization, or cloud transformation
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., BAIT, DORA, MaRisk)
  • Solid knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) – as a tool, not an end in itself
  • Strategic mindset with entrepreneurial thinking
  • Strong influencing skills at senior management level
  • Ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and structured way
  • Courage to take a position and provide direction
  • A builder’s mindset rather than an administrator’s mentality
  • Very good German and English language skills

Feel rewarded

For starters, we’ll offer you a comprehensive benefits package. We’ll value your wellbeing and support your development. And we’ll be as flexible as we can about where and when you work – finding a balance that works for all of us. It’s all part of our commitment to making you feel motivated by the work you do and happy to be part of our team.
