Volunteers usually live in rural, agricultural communities and commute to their assigned workplaces by foot, bicycle, or public transportation. They are housed in private rooms within host family residences throughout their service. Host family homes have electricity and running water, and shower facilities may be located either inside or outside the house. All communities have cell phone coverage, which allows for Internet access. While individual homes may not always have strong cellular reception, most do.
