English Language Development (ELD) Teacher (K–8) – 2026–2027 School Year

Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE)
Start Date: Summer 2026
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate and culturally responsive English Language Development (ELD) Teacher (K–8) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas for the 2026–2027 school year.
The ELD Teacher is responsible for supporting multilingual learners in developing English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, while ensuring access to grade-level academic content. The ideal candidate will implement research-based instructional strategies to support English learners and accelerate language acquisition and academic achievement.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through strong instructional practices, high expectations, and data-informed teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
Deliver targeted English Language Development instruction aligned with Nevada Academic Content Standards and English Language Proficiency standards.
Support multilingual learners in developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.
Differentiate instruction based on students’ language proficiency levels.
Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support English learners’ access to grade-level content across subjects.
Classroom Culture & Student Development
Establish and maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for multilingual learners.
Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Build student confidence in language acquisition and classroom participation.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to support English learners across grade levels and content areas.
Use student data to inform instructional practices and intervention strategies.
Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
Family Engagement
Communicate regularly with families regarding student language development and academic progress.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences and support strong home–school partnerships.
Provide resources and guidance to families supporting English learners.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, ESL, or a related field
Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement or equivalent training in teaching English learners is required
Additionally, candidates must:
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset
Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) in a K–8 setting
Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments
Experience collaborating with general education teachers to support language development across content areas
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
