English Language Development Teacher

Start: 2026-2027 School Year
Compensation Range: $44,770.00 – $50,550.80 annually (DOE)
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to support multilingual learners in developing English proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The ELD Teacher will provide targeted language instruction and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure English learners can access grade-level academic content.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.
This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting multilingual learners in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Instruction & Student Achievement
Deliver targeted English Language Development instruction aligned with state language proficiency standards.
Support multilingual learners in developing academic language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Use language acquisition strategies to help students access grade-level academic content.
Differentiate instruction to meet varying English proficiency levels.
Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
Classroom Culture & Student Support
Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations learning environment.
Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student engagement and behavior.
Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment that values students’ linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support English learners in core academic subjects.
Assist in developing strategies and accommodations to support language acquisition in the classroom.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on multilingual learner success.
Family Engagement
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress in English language development.
Support family engagement by providing resources and strategies for supporting language development at home.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school-wide events.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Valid teaching certification with an ESL/ELL/SEI endorsement or related credential, OR
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Education, TESOL, Linguistics, English, or similar field), OR
Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting multilingual learners in a K–8 setting
Additionally, candidates must:
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
Possess strong analytical abilities and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
