The College of Liberal Arts currently has approximately 100 full-time and 80 part-time faculty in 8 academic departments and/or schools. The College serves the University's Core Curriculum programs and enrolls more than 1500 undergraduate students and more than 190 graduate students in 34 undergraduate and 17 graduate majors. The English department offers four undergraduate degree tracks (Creative Writing, English, English Education, and Technical Writing) and houses three undergraduate minors (Creative Writing, English, and Technical Writing) and two interdisciplinary minors (Asian Studies and Film Studies). The department also has four graduate degree tracks (Literature, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, and TESL). The Department of English seeks to appoint a full-time, non-tenure-track renewable Assistant Professor of English with a specialization in British literatures after 1800. We particularly welcome applicants with secondary research and/or teaching experience in areas of Asian studies, contemporary world literatures, or Transatlantic Black literatures.
Teach four courses (twelve hours) per semester, including British Literature since 1800 and World Literature II, first-year composition, and upper-division and cross-listed undergraduate-/master’s-level courses, as well as graduate-only seminars, in areas that complement instructor expertise and departmental need. Direct and serve on M.A. thesis committees; engage in service at the department, college, and university levels; and maintain an active program of research, scholarly, and/or creative activity.
Required: A Ph.D. in English (or a directly related adjacent field) and a commitment to high-quality teaching are required. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least two years of experience teaching in a college or university setting.
